As per the data from the Health Ministry, the list of Positivity rate has Maharashtra on the top with 20.4%, followed by Puducherry (18.2%) and Kerala (17.8%). The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) said that the country's cumulative positive rate of coronavirus cases is below 8%. But the Union Territories and several States shows higher positivity rate than the national average. This indicates the need for aggressive and widespread testing.

The timely identification, prompt isolation and effective treatment, higher testing also is a factor to the low positive rate. The National average for Covid-19 tests per million population is 64,473. And is 1,30,513 for Puducherry and 57,009 for Kerala. Other states and UTs in the list are Nagaland, Chandigarh, Goa, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Ladakh, Chhattisgarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and West Bengal.

54,000 new cases found in last 24 hours in India, Know active cases

India has crossed the 77 Lakh mark on thursday, October 22 with 55,838 new Covid-19 cases, the total has reached 77,06,946. The count included 7,15,812 active cases (dip by 24,278 since yesterday) and 68,74,518 cured/discharged/migrated cases (rise by 79,415 since yesterday). With 702 deaths in the last 24 hours, the total death count due to the disease reached 1,16,616. Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected state by Covid-19 in the country.
