Dominica: On Day 2 of the first Test between India and the West Indies, Indian batters other than opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal also wrote history. As Team India increased their advantage to 162 runs at Windsor Park on Wednesday, captain Rohit Sharma and former India captain Virat Kohli also made history.
On Day 2 at Stumps, newcomer Jaiswal and India's skipper Rohit both scored centuries to help the visitors reach 312/2 in 113 overs.
In his first-ever international game for Team India, newcomer Jaiswal batted all day and finished unbeaten on 143. In the Caribbean, Jaiswal and captain Rohit set new standards by forming a record-breaking opening pair against the West Indies.

The freshly formed opening pair against the West Indies in the Caribbean recorded India's greatest opening partnership. The opening partnership of 229 runs between Rohit and Jaiswal is the highest for the Asian giants in Test cricket played outside of the subcontinent.
Further discussing the game, Rohit, the captain of India, scored 103 runs from 221 balls. In the longest and most traditional style of the game, the seasoned Indian opener slammed his tenth hundred.
On Day 2 of the first game of the series, the 36-year-old also reached 3,500 runs in Test cricket. The veteran hitter has been added to an elite list with Virat Kohli. It's interesting to see that only Kohli and Rohit have 3,500 runs across all three formats.

Rohit, also known as the Hitman, has scored 3853 runs in T20 international matches and 9,825 runs in ODIs. With 8515 Test runs and 12,898 ODI runs, Kohli is the only batsman with over 4,000 runs in T20 Internationals. With his brief appearance on Day 2 at Dominica against the West Indies, the Indian run machine also wrote history.
In the history of Test cricket, Kohli is now India's fifth-highest run scorer. On the elite list, the former India captain has eclipsed great Indian opener Virender Sehwag (8503). On the list of elite players, Kohli is just behind Sachin Tendulkar (15921), Rahul Dravid (13265), Sunil Gavaskar (10122), and VVS Laxman (8781). On Day 2 of the tournament, top batsman Kohli was still undefeated with 36 off 96 balls.
