Glasgow: India has won a major victory at the level of international diplomacy at the ongoing UN Conference COP26 in Glasgow to curb climate change. India has succeeded in persuading other member countries of the world to include coal in phase-down instead of 'phase out' after several days of talks at the conference here. After agreeing, India finally supported the draft COP26, which was passed by about 200 countries.

The climate agreement in Glasgow aimed at keeping the global warming target alive aims to achieve the target of 1.5 degrees Celsius. In which India and China succeeded in incorporating the last-minute change in the terminology of phase-out of coal and fossil fuels to reduce them in a phased manner. Announcing the Glasgow Climate Pact, COP26 Chairman Alok Sharma said, 'It has been decided.' He said, 'I hope we can come out of this dialogue together. And together they will be able to provide something important to the people and the earth.' In fact, many countries condemned India's changes in the middle of the programme, and Union Environment Minister Bhupinder Yadav has spoken at the Glasgow conference on how anyone can expect a developing country to promise to end the use of coal and fossil fuels, While he already has the challenge of fulfilling the development agenda and eliminating poverty. Earlier, India had also expressed disappointment over the draft agreement.

Earlier, India has talked about injustice to developing countries. It also stressed the need to meet financial goals on 'lack of balance' and climate. Yadav has said, 'Mr. Speaker, thank you for your constant efforts to build consensus. However, I am afraid that consent has become a procrastination. India is ready for a good debate and a just solution to this forum.'
