LONDON: British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak confidently asserts that the partnership between India and the UK will become a defining moment in our era. As the UK-India Week 2023 commences on Saturday, Sunak envisions this annual event as a crucial platform to spotlight various sectors, including politics, trade, and business, with the aim of strengthening the alliance between the two nations.

The India Global Forum's annual UK-India Week 2023, set to continue until June 30, is eagerly anticipated in the bilateral calendar of our two great nations. This event serves as a catalyst for forging new trade ties and establishing lasting collaborations, ultimately paving the way for a better future for our peoples. With confidence, Sunak proclaims that this partnership will leave a lasting impact on our times.

Sunak's optimism is grounded in the ambitious plans set forth by the 2030 Roadmap and the ongoing Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations between the UK and India. These initiatives serve as key indicators of the British Prime Minister's determination to transform and elevate the ties between the two countries. Recent discussions between Sunak and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the G7 summit in Hiroshima reviewed the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the progress made in the FTA negotiations.

The British government estimates that a successful trade deal could result in a substantial increase in both the UK and India's GDP. By 2035, the UK's GDP could grow by approximately £3.3 billion to £6.2 billion, while India's GDP could experience a growth of around £3.7 billion to £8.6 billion. These promising figures highlight the immense economic potential that lies within the partnership.

Sunak, drawing from his previous role as Chancellor, emphasizes the importance of forging a partnership of equals with India. Acknowledging the significance of moving forward, he recognizes that the UK must earn its place at the table with one of the world's largest, fastest-growing, and most dynamic economies. The focus is on building a future-oriented collaboration that transcends the limitations of the past.

Manoj Ladwa, Founder and Chairman of India Global Forum, stresses the importance of closer and deeper ties between the UK and India, given the geopolitical upheaval and economic turbulence experienced worldwide. Ladwa expresses his gratitude to Prime Minister Sunak for acknowledging the pivotal role played by the India Global Forum in bringing the two great democracies closer and unlocking the true potential of their partnership.

The UK-India week will commence with an address by opposition Labour Party leader Keir Starmer, setting the stage for a week filled with valuable insights and meaningful discussions. The event will witness the participation of esteemed figures from the political and business arenas of both nations. Raj Kumar Singh, Minister for Power, New & Renewable Energy, and Secretary of State for Education Gillian Keegan will be among the prominent attendees. The event boasts an impressive history of distinguished speakers, including King Charles III, serving and former British Prime Ministers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and renowned leaders from the business and cultural domains.

As the curtains rise on the UK-India Week 2023, the stage is set for a transformative alliance that promises to reshape the dynamics between India and the UK. With a strong focus on politics, trade, and business, this partnership aims to unlock their true potential and create a brighter future for both nations.
