On the plank of Indian politics, the post of PM came into the hands of Mrs Indira Gandhi at a time when the country was struggling with a leadership crisis. Indira not only provided efficient leadership to the country by her miraculous leadership but also set India on the world stage.

Senior Congress leader Karan Singh had told in conversation that Indira was a skilled administrator. Bangladesh came into existence with their active cooperation which changed both history and geography. In response to a question asked by Indira Gandhi about the imposition of Emergency, she said, 'I think it was wrong to impose Emergency' and she too later admitted her mistake.

Leadership qualities were present in Indira since childhood. She formed the Vanar Sena as a child to give impetus to India's independence movement. Kalim Bahadur, a former professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University, said that Indira's prime ministership was very good. She did many such works which increased India's respect in the world. She gave a new tone to India's foreign policy, the formation of Bangladesh are some examples of them. She established the country's dominance on the world map.
