Indore, Madhya Pradesh – In a tragic incident, Mahendra Singh Solanki, an Indian Forest Service (IFoS) officer serving as the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) in Indore, was found dead at his government bungalow near Navratan Bagh on Friday late afternoon. Authorities have reported it as an apparent suicide, though no note was discovered at the scene.
Additional Commissioner of Police Amit Singh confirmed the death and stated that two mobile phones and several departmental documents were retrieved from Solanki’s room. These items have been sent for forensic analysis to aid the investigation.
Officer Reported Feeling Unwell Before Tragedy
Earlier in the day, Solanki informed his caretakers that he was feeling unwell and asked his driver to prepare to take him to the hospital by 3 PM. However, when the caretakers checked on him later, there was no response from his room. Around 4:30 PM, they broke the door open and discovered him hanging.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Hansraj Singh mentioned that family disputes could be a possible reason behind the officer’s extreme decision. However, the exact cause remains unclear without a suicide note.
Missed Meeting Due to Health Reasons - According to Additional CP Amit Singh, Solanki had excused himself from attending a departmental review meeting earlier in the day, citing health issues. His mobile phone logs showed multiple missed calls and dropped video calls from 12:30 PM onwards.
Family and Personal Details - Solanki’s wife, a retired teacher, was away in Khargone for a pooja at the time of the incident. His elderly parents were present at the bungalow.Â
Career Close to Retirement
Hailing from Khargone, Solanki had been posted in Indore for the past year and a half. He was just six months away from retirement, making his sudden death even more shocking for colleagues and family members.
Investigation Ongoing
Police officials continue to investigate the incident thoroughly to uncover the circumstances surrounding his death. Further details will emerge once the forensic analysis of the recovered items is complete.
