The industry is facing a loss of crores of rupees, it is also directly impacting the farmers. The crops which were to go out of the fields and go to the processing plants of these industries, are either getting spoiled or being thrown. The current business season of industries has deteriorated. The whole year in terms of export also seems to be deteriorating. More than 50 large and more than 100 small food processing industries located in Ratlam along with Pithampur are demanding relief for themselves in the lockdown.

Will lockdown extend in Karnataka too? Now state government has given answer

Food Processing Industries located in Pithampur and Ratlam's Nimrani area translates the vegetables produced in Malwa-Nimar into frozen vegetable. Fruit pulp and vegetable sauces are made with it. Frozen vegetables and pulp from Indore are largely exported to Russia along with Arab countries. Around 100 crore is being exported every year from the Indore-Ratlam region. According to Hitesh Patidar, Director of Jagdish Agri Export of Pithampur, there is a double loss due to lockdown. Goods kept ready in industries have deteriorated. The period of lockdown was the time to buy goods from farmers. The crop prepared in the fields is purchased for the plant. It has tomatoes, sweet corn and other types of vegetables.

Industries had to stop buying in lockdown. As a result, this finished crop of farmers is rotting in the fields. According to Patidar, the farmers get the industry operators contract forming. Farmers plant crops of our needs on their land and we guarantee them purchase. Since the plants were closed in the current situation, we have to stop buying. The farmers are now getting upset and pressurizing us to pay. The plants are closed, in such a way how can we buy goods from them and pay them.
