Indore, in Madhya Pradesh, has once again clinched the title of the cleanest city for the seventh consecutive time in the Swachh Survekshan 2024. This recognition highlights Indore's unwavering commitment to cleanliness, a value deeply embedded in its cultural fabric. Surat also received an award in acknowledgment of its efforts in maintaining cleanliness.

The honor will be bestowed upon Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava and Municipal Commissioner Harshika Singh by President Draupadi Murmu at a ceremony scheduled to take place at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi on Thursday at 8:30 am. The event will witness Madhya Pradesh receiving a total of six awards across various categories.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended Indore, stating that while other cities are contemplating cleanliness initiatives, Indore has consistently taken the lead. Indore's achievement of reaching the seventh level of cleanliness is not just a reflection of habit but is celebrated as a festival and ritual in the city.

Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava, Municipal Commissioner Harshika Singh, Additional Commissioner, members of the Mayor's Council, Chief Health Inspector (CSI), seven Safai Mitras, and two Inspectors have all gathered in Delhi to witness the ceremony. To allow the city's residents to be part of this momentous occasion, the Municipal Corporation has arranged for the live telecast of the ceremony on the city channel.
