New Delhi: India is emphasizing on strengthening the Air Force as well as the Navy. INS Karanj, the third submarine of the Kalvari class built in India, has successfully passed sea trials. The Indian Navy can add it to its fleet in four to five months. The submarine was sent for sea trials in the year 2018.

Earlier, Kalvari and Khanderi have already joined the Navy fleet, both these submarines are also made of Kalvari class. The specialty of INS Karanj is that it is capable of firing torpedoes and tube launched anti-ship missiles from surface and underwater. It can destroy the enemy by aiming accurately. The six Kalvari class submarines have been built by Mazagon Dockyard Ltd, Mumbai and the French company Messrs Naval Group. These submarines can remain within the ocean for 50 days and dive up to 350 meters.

These submarines can travel at sea at a speed of 37 km per hour. This submarine is equipped with torpedoes, with the help of which a submarine or a ship on the surface of the sea can be easily destroyed. Apart from this, these submarines can also lay landmines in the sea.
