Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's hometown Gorakhpur is going to get a big gift very soon. Actually, Gorakhpur is going to have an international-level sports city. It will be built on 200 acres. Additional Chief Secretary, Sports Department, Navneet Sehgal has written to Commissioner Ravi Kumar NG asking him to provide land at the earliest.

What will happen in sports city:-

1- Multipurpose cricket and football stadium with a capacity of 50,000 spectators
2- World Class Convention Centre
3- Five-star hotel centre
4- Amusement Park
5- Multiplexes and shopping malls
6- Sports academies like football, cricket and tennis
7- Academy with apartments

Modi government at the Center has given a huge budget to develop sports facilities in the states. In view of this, the Sports Department has planned to develop an International Sports City in Gorakhpur. The budget will be provided by the Sports Ministry to develop its infrastructure. There are also some conditions for the selection of land for the sports city, including the proximity of the international airport. In such a situation, the eye is on the Jagdishpur area. In the proposed master plan of 2031 by GDA, about 250 acres of land near Jagdishpur has been secured for the sports ground. Cricket, hockey, football and all the main indoor sports will be allowed in the very special stadium. Along with the sports academy, the facility for the treatment of sports injuries will also be available.
