The International Tennis Federation (ITF) announced to Mangwar that they would use the ATP and WTA rankings of June 7, 2021, to finalize the entry list of the tennis events for next year's Tokyo Olympics. However, no changes have been made in the eligibility rules of the players. There will be a draw of 64 players in the men's and women's singles events, in which 56 players will get direct entry according to the ranking of June 7, 2021. A National Olympic Committee (NOC) can send a maximum of four players for a tennis event. This year's Tokyo Olympics has been postponed from July 23 to August 8 due to Coronavirus epidemic.

There will be eight ITF places, out of which six will be given on the basis of continental qualification. The Asian Games 2018 champion from the continent of Asia will get this place and will make it to the main draw. There will be a draw of 32 pairs in doubles, in which players who are in the top 10 will get direct entry till the cut-off date. They can choose the partner of their choice provided the player is in the top 300 in singles or doubles rankings.

In the mixed doubles, there will be competition between 16 pairs and these pairs will be formed from the players already nominated for singles and doubles. The ITF will have to confirm the names of the players who got the place through the direct entry and final qualification place (ITF place) by 10 June 2021 to the NOC / National Association. After this, the NOC will have to conform to the ITF by 17 June 2021 whether they want to use the quota space or not.
