Introducing the opulent blended limousine Mercedes-Maybach S 580e

New Delhi: The S 580e plug-in hybrid limousine has been unveiled by Mercedes-Maybach for various Asian and European markets. The ultra-luxury car also happens to be the first electrified model from the German automaker's "Maybach" division.

The car still carries the common S 580 variant silhouette. The four-wheeler is claimed to have an EV-range of up to 100 km.

Maybach, a division of ultra-luxury Mercedes-Benz, is famous for building some of the most lavish automobiles in the world. In response to the recent shift towards electrification in the automotive industry, the automaker decided to release a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of its best-selling sedan model, the S-Class.

Powering the limousine, the 4.0-litre V8 engine has been replaced by a 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six engine.

The Mercedes-Maybach S 580e features similar exterior styling to the standard model, with a longer, sculpted bonnet, sweptback matrix LED headlights with integrated DRLs, a sizable chrome grille with vertical slats and a wider air dam.

On the sides, the sedan gets designer alloy wheels, flush-fitted door handles and ORVMs with indicators. The rear is adorned with LED taillights that wrap around.

Available is the Mercedes-Maybach S 580e with a 367-horsepower, 3.0-liter, turbocharged straight-six gasoline engine and a 150-horsepower electric motor. The system produces 510 hp and 750 Nm of combined output. The sedan is claimed to have an EV range of up to 100 km.

The luxurious interiors of the Mercedes-Maybach S 580e feature a minimalistic dashboard and a four-seater cabin with wood trims, premium leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof, multicolored ambient lighting, four-zone climate control and a multi-functional steering wheel.

The sedan gets a touchscreen MBUX infotainment system with connectivity options and a digital instrument cluster. Multiple airbags and ADAS features keep the passengers safe.

Soon, Mercedes-Maybach will reveal the pricing details of the S 580e. The sedan will be made available by the automaker in the European and Asian markets. It will be more expensive than the standard model, which sells for Rs. 3.2 crore in India (ex-showroom).
