Invest Karnataka-2025: Rapido to Launch Pink Bike Taxis for Women This Year

Karnataka Global Investors Meet 2025:  Rapido, the popular ride-hailing service, is ready to introduce pink taxis in the Southern State, Karnataka. Co-founder,  Pavan Guntupalli announced  the development at the Global Investors Meet Karnataka 2025. This initiative is aimed at empowering women. Through this,  "We will offer 25,000 jobs for women this year, with pink bikes  riding as a service for women, by women," the co-founder said.

Earlier in September 2024, Rapido launched its Bike Pink service in Chennai. And now, in Karnataka, the company plans to offer 25 electric bikes to women.  This is exclusively for women who are facing financial difficulties, helping them access jobs and better transportation options.

Rapido will also train women drivers in safety and driving skills through special programs in partnership with NGOs. After Karnataka, Rapido will  also expand its electric Bike Pink service to Kolkata.

Rapido, established in 2015, has now become known for providing affordable and reliable transportation in India’s metro cities. Many ride-hailing companies, including Uber with its "Moto Women" service, are focusing on offering safer, more inclusive options for female riders and drivers.

Rapido has recently expanded its services to Belagavi, offering a safe and convenient bike-taxi option for residents and visitors. To book a ride, users just need the Rapido app, available on both Android and iOS. 

Though the service is starting small, the company plans to expand the service and coverage based on demand. All drivers take experience thorough background checks, trainning, and are equipped with safety gear to make sure a comfortable ride.

Karnataka Global Investors Meet 2025:

Karnataka will hold a 3-day investor summit from February 12 to 14, 2025. The target is to boost manufacturing and create more jobs as the economy changes. 
With big investments coming in, the state hopes to use its strong technology and industry base to grow even more. This will help Karnataka strengthen its position as a top hub for manufacturing and innovation.
