Lucknow: The case of the murder of former Samajwadi Party (SP) MP and mafia boss Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf in police custody has now reached the Supreme Court. Apex court lawyer Vishal Tiwari, while filing a petition in this case, has demanded that the investigation of the entire case be done under the supervision of the former judge.

Not only this, but a demand has also been made in the petition to investigate 183 encounters in Uttar Pradesh since 2017. The petition sought the constitution of an independent expert committee headed by a former apex court judge. Advocate Vishal Tiwari has said in his petition that Vikas Dubey and his associates were also killed in an encounter by the police after the Bikru massacre in Kanpur in 2020. A petition was also filed regarding this matter, requesting that there be a CBI inquiry into the entire matter.

Petitioner Vishal Tiwari has submitted that his PIL is against the violation of the rule of law and police brutality. Atiq Ahmed and his brother, Khalid Azim alias Ashraf, were murdered on Saturday while they were answering questions from media personnel.
