On Sunday, the first match of the IPL 2021 doubleheader clash Chennai Super Kings against Kolkata Knight Riders. CSK and KKR are both in excellent form, having won their first two matches in the UAE leg. CSK are presently second in the IPL points table while Kolkata Knight Riders are fifth. In their last match, CSK defeated Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore, while KKR defeated the reigning champions Mumbai Indians.

With a victory, CSK will almost certainly qualify for the playoffs. KKR is also in a strong position, and a win would give them an advantage over some of the other teams in the top four competition. With CSK and DC leading the race for two playoff spots, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians, KKR, Rajasthan Royals, and Punjab Kings will compete for the other two spots.

KKR's two huge wins in the UAE have boosted their net run rate, putting them a leg up on the competition. Going into the match against CSK, Kolkata will be full of confidence. KKR's standouts thus far have been Rahul Tripathi and Venkatesh Iyer, while Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine have been the ball stars.

However, their opponents on Sunday, CSK, have been in excellent form as well, defeating MI and RCB with ease. Ruturaj Gaikwad has been the outstanding batsman for CSK, with others contributing crucial runs as well. Dwayne Bravo starred for MS Dhoni's team against RCB and the West Indian all-rounder will be confident of causing the KKR batters some problems as well. With not many matches left to go, both teams will be looking to get the job done, but KKR surely need the win more than CSK.
