Union Home Ministry to hold crucial meeting with Naxal affected states today

New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry has convened a meeting of chief ministers of Naxal affected states on Sunday. Home Minister Amit Shah along with these Chief Ministers will review the security situation in Naxal affected areas. It is said that CM Bhupesh Baghel of Chhattisgarh, the most affected state in the country, will not be involved.

Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray are attending the meeting. Maharashtra Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte and DGP Sanjay Pandey will also attend the meeting with Uddhav. However, two representatives from Chhattisgarh are also attending the meeting. The State DGP and Chief Secretary are in Delhi who are attending the meeting. Baghel is said to not have a programme to visit Delhi today. He will go to Mahasamund and will attend a local function here.

The same meeting will be held at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi. Uddhav Thackeray will visit Vigyan Bhawan from Delhi airport to attend the meeting. The meeting will continue till 2 pm. He will then leave for Maharashtra. The meeting will be chaired by Home Minister Amit Shah. The meeting has been convened by the Chief Ministers of the State as well as the Chief Secretary and the DGP. The focus of this meeting is on issues like security as well as development. It will be attended by Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, IB Director Arvind Kumar and senior officials of the Home Ministry.
