TEHRAN: Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has said that sending a large delegation to the Vienna discussions on the restoration of the 2015 nuclear deal demonstrates the Islamic Republic's seriousness in seeking a diplomatic solution.

According to the Iranian presidency's website, Raisi made the statements during a meeting with foreign ambassadors visiting Iran on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution.  "Everyone knows the Islamic Republic has never walked away from a negotiating table and has always gone into talks with resolve and initiative," he continued.

According to him, the current scenario surrounding the 2015 nuclear accord, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), is the result of the United States' inability to keep its pledges under the agreement, as well as certain parties' passivity in response to sanctions.

The Iranian President emphasised that pursuing a diplomatic approach will only be effective and long-term if all parties demonstrate their commitment to it in practise. Iran has always emphasised the importance of peaceful coexistence and the establishment of appropriate and balanced relations with other countries without foreign interference, as well as the need for dynamic and constructive diplomacy to resolve regional and international issues, according to Raisi.
