Jerusalem: In the latest round of violence in the Gaza conflict, 47 people lost their lives due to Israeli airstrikes on residential buildings in the southern part of the region. The Israeli military had previously warned civilians to relocate as they prepared for an offensive against Hamas in the southern enclave. Concurrently, Israeli troops were reported to be operating in Gaza City's Shifa Hospital complex, aiming to uncover underground infrastructure belonging to the Hamas terror group.

The conflict, initiated by Hamas on October 7, has resulted in approximately 1,200 casualties in Israel, with 240 children being held hostage in Gaza. The toll includes 52 Israeli soldiers and over 11,500 Palestinians. The United Nations' Palestinian refugee agency reported additional casualties at a school in the north, which was providing shelter to displaced civilians.

Earlier accusations by Palestinian officials claimed that the Israeli army forcibly evacuated most staff, patients, and displaced individuals from Al-Shifa Hospital, Gaza's largest, leaving them to embark on perilous journeys southward on foot. Israeli forces, however, denied these allegations, asserting that evacuations were voluntary. The capture of Al Shifa hospital was part of the Israeli offensive in north Gaza, with authorities claiming it harbored an underground Hamas command center.
