16-year-old, Indian golden girl Manu Bhaker showed that she has a very strong head on her young shoulders as she overcame a 1.4 point deficit on the last shot to win the Women’s 10m Air Pistol gold in the year’s first International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup stage in Mexico’s Guadalajara on Sunday.

Indian golden girl Manu Bhaker, who recently earned a quota place for the Beunos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games scheduled for last October, needed some good luck and a strong finish to overcome home favorite Alejandra Zavala, a two-time World Cup Finals winner. Vazquez had a 1.9-point advantage in the final round. She fired twice inside the 8th ring. Young lady, Bhaker first reduced the gap with an 8.5 pointer, and then secured the gold with a 10.6 pointer.

The bronze medal was won by France’s Celine Goberville. The French 31-year-old shooter finished with 217.0 points. She was the winner of the ISSF crystal globe at last year’s World Cup Final in New Delhi. Another Indian, Yashaswini Singh Deswal (20), also performed well as she finished 4th with 196.1 points. Deswal was followed by Anna Korakaki of Greece bearer of the highest qualification score, and bronze medalist in this event at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games who scored 177.0 points and concluded in 5th place.
