On Wednesday, IT Minister KT Rama Rao closed all rumours and fears that law and order would go for a toss if telangana was given a separate statehood. He said the state had been incident-free for the last six and a half years and had set an example for other states on how to maintain law and order effectively.
He was speaking after inaugurating India's first Public Safety Integrated Operations and Data Centre at the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate. He recalled his experience in law and order in former Andhra Pradesh. "Like most of you, I was born elsewhere, and then I came to the city to study in st. george grammar school in Abids, where i was in class eight, ninth and tenth. I still clearly remember that At 13 I am expecting a week or 10 days vacation every year without any expectations. We have received additional leave for 10 days as curfews are imposed for various reasons," he said.
Some expressed concern about the future of Telangana and how it would attract industries and investments. It was widely publicized that some industries would pack their bags and leave the state. However, politically stable government and effective policing have confirmed that Telangana is an incident-free state so far without any conflicts.
