In Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, the Governor's administration is gearing up to complete the Block Development Council (BDC) election process by the end of October to create a three-tier panchayati raj system. Final voter lists will be released on September 23. Action is going on on the ground surface for elections in 316 blocks of the state. Voter lists are being prepared. Notification regarding the election can be issued at any time. At this time, the draft voter lists have been issued and objections have been lodged for amendment.

According to media reports, the process of deciding the election strategy is going on. If BDC elections are to be conducted on the same day, then a notification has to be issued at least 21 days in advance. It is not difficult for the administration to conduct elections. There will be a polling station in every block headquarters of 316 blocks of the state. In such a situation, it will not be difficult to get an average of 136 votes in one block. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary BBR Subrahmanyam has directed the Divisional Commissioners of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh that the BDC elections will be held by the end of October. In this case, complete all preparations. Nearly 43 thousand panch and sarpanch are entitled to vote to elect the president of 316 BDC in Jammu and Kashmir. Of these, 4490 are sarpanch and the rest is panch.

Chief Electoral Officer Shailendra Kumar has also ordered to make Block Development Officers Polling Election Officer and Co-Polling Election Officer to elect BDC President. BDC elections have never been held in Jammu and Kashmir. BDC meeting will be held in Jammu and Kashmir for the first time. After this, District Planning Board will be formed in the third tier of Panchayati Raj. Recently, Home Minister Amit Shah assured the delegation of sarpanches of Jammu and Kashmir in Delhi that BDC elections will be held by mid-October. After this, the campaign had gained momentum regarding the election.
