Srinagar: The central government abolished special status on August 5 by removing Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. Also, the government divided the state into two union territories. Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were made two separate union territories. After this, 108 laws of the Center will now be directly applicable in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The state's own 164 laws will be repealed and 166 laws will continue in the state. Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh will have a shared High Court.

Director Rajiv Gupta of Jammu and Kashmir State Judicial Academy has given information in this regard. The State Judicial Academy organized a refresher program for the District Sessions Judges of Jammu Division on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, Gupta said that Jammu and Kashmir will become an union territory with assembly and Ladakh will become a union territory without assembly.

Sessions judges were addressed by former Judge Janak Kotwal. Said that in the case of appreciation of evidence, there is a need for the Evidence Act. Said that in such cases clear understanding and information is required. Addressing the judges, Rajiv Gupta gave his views on Jammu Kashmir Reorganization Act 2019 and pending cases in the court. This decision of the Central Government is being welcomed in Jammu and Ladakh. At the same time, people are tense about this in Kashmir. In view of this, the government has deployed heavy security forces in the state.
