Srinagar: After the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, the Valley is getting gifts from the Modi Government of the Center. Taking this sequence further, for the development of the industrial development of the state, permission has been given for the construction of a dry port in the Samba industrial area of Jammu. This will be the first freight terminal in the state to be constructed at PP Samba railway station.

This freight terminal, built by mutual collaboration between the railways and the private sector, will be ready in the next 10 months. Walnuts, almonds and apples of Jammu and Kashmir reached the mandis around the world in less time and less expenditure and increase the profits of export-related traders in the state. For this, the Central Government realizing the importance of making Dry Port at Samba railway station with the aim of inviting new industries and giving relief to the industries running in the state, as soon as Section 370 is interrupted in the development of the state. Instructions have been given to prepare the company and railways by mutual cooperation.

The first rail freight terminal of the valley will have a capacity of 2 to 5 railway freight trains and 6 to 9 metric tons of goods will be transported from here. Containers, barracks bulk cement, fertilizers, steel, automobiles, and other industrial goods will also be kept in the terminal. With the construction of this terminal, dry fruits traders from the state will save time and money in exporting Kashmiri fruits worldwide as the nearest dry port is currently in Ludhiana.
