Srinagar: Security forces have gunned down two terrorists in an encounter in the Dagad area of Shopian in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Police and army search operations are on in the area. Jammu and Kashmir Police informed in this regard. All people have been asked to stay indoors under the anti-terror operation. Tight security arrangements have been made in the area.

Police and security forces are fully alert. Police said two unidentified militants were killed in the encounter. Kashmir IGP Vijay Kumar said, "One of the terrorists killed in the Shopian encounter has been identified as Adil Ah Wani, who had been active since 7/2020. He was involved in the murder of a poor labourer in Litter, Pulwama. So far 15 terrorists have been killed in 2 weeks.''

As the joint team of forces moved towards the suspected location, the hidden militants started firing on the security forces, after which the encounter started. A senior police officer also confirmed firing between the militants and security forces. According to sources, two to three terrorists are feared trapped. Army officials said people were alerted by turning away from local mosques. Security forces are preparing for a final blow against the terrorists.
