Srinagar: Security forces have gunned down five terrorists, including 4 Lashkar-e-Taiba militants, in an encounter with militants in the Pulwama district of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. In the meantime, an army jawan has also attained valor. The official said security forces had cordoned off Hajin village of Rajpura in Pulwama district and launched a search operation after receiving information that the militants were hiding.
The encounter started as terrorists opened fire on the security forces. The security forces also retaliated in a befitting manner to the firing. The official said one jawan was injured in the initial firing who succumbed to his injuries during treatment at the hospital. The additional force was sent to the spot and five terrorists were killed in the encounter. The four slain terrorists belong to Lashkar-e-Taiba and one is of Pakistani origin.
According to police information, the slain terrorists have been identified as Danish Manzoor of Pulwama, Rehan of Pakistan, Nishad Hussain Lone alias Tikh of Tral, and Amir Vagya of Hajan Payan. While one has not been identified.
