Encounter in Shopian in Jammu and Kashmir, one terrorist died

Srinagar: An unidentified terrorist was killed in an encounter between security forces and unidentified terrorists in Shopian district of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. While two Indian Army personnel were injured. Earlier yesterday, security forces in Baramulla had killed two terrorists of terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed.

A police officer said about this incident that the security forces laid siege on secret information about the presence of terrorists in Kanigam area of Shopian in South Kashmir and started a search operation. He said that while the security forces were searching, the terrorists opened fire on them. The officer said that the encounter started as a retaliation.

An official said a terrorist was killed in retaliatory firing. He said that along with the identification of the slain terrorist, it is also being ascertained from which terrorist organization he was associated with. The officer said that two soldiers were injured in the shootout and were taken to the medical unit. The campaign was on till the last information was received and further details are awaited.
