Jammu and Kashmir native certificate format released, BJP welcomed

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Monday evening had determined who would get the citizenship of Jammu and Kashmir and how they would be able to get it. Notification of rules of procedure for issuing domicile certificate for obtaining citizenship of Jammu and Kashmir was issued by the local administration.

The format of the application was also released late on Monday evening. Individuals eligible for the certificate can apply online. Offline forms can also be submitted with the competent authority. The BJP has welcomed the draft, while the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has called it a hoax. Domicile will also be considered as a native certificate under the notification. Domicile certificate will be granted under section 309 of the Indian Constitution and under the rules of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services Act, 2010.

The competent authority will provide the certificate to the person who fulfils the conditions. Certificates will be given only to a person who has resided in Jammu and Kashmir for 15 years or who has studied for seven years. For those who study in Jammu and Kashmir, the condition is that the concerned person has also given tenth and twelfth exams from educational institutions in Jammu and Kashmir.
