Srinagar: A terrorist has been killed in an encounter between militants and security forces during a siege and search operation in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces in south Kashmir's Shopian district located hidden militants' bases and recovered massive arms and ammunition, although the terrorists managed to flee before the security forces reached there.

Giving information about the hideout of the terrorists, official sources said that the security forces started a siege and search operation in Dehrampura, Chandura village in the afternoon. When the security forces laid siege to a particular area of the village, the hidden terrorists opened fire on the security forces with automatic weapons. The encounter started after the security forces retaliated.

One terrorist was killed in the firing by the security forces. The operation continues until the final report is received. Additional security forces have been rushed to the area to prevent attempts by militants to escape.
