Srinagar: an encounter broke out between security forces and militants in Shopian district since Sunday morning. Security forces have killed four terrorists in the counter-insurgency operation. Security forces have recovered a large quantity of arms and ammunition after the encounter. Security forces cordoned off the area of Darmadora Kegum in south Kashmir during an encounter.

Two terrorists were initially killed during the counter-insurgency operation, but later the bodies of two more terrorists were recovered during the search operation. A police official said, security forces launched a cordon in Shopian area following information about the incident. During the search operation, the militants opened fire on the security forces, after which the encounter broke out. "After the hiding terrorists surrounded them, they opened fire, after which the counter-attack began," the police official said. Efforts are currently being made to identify the identity and organization of the slain militants," he said.

Mobile internet services have been discontinued in Shopian district in view of the encounter. Officials said the internet service has been banned with immediate effect as a precautionary measure. Services will be restored again as soon as things are normalized.
