Tokyo: Japan expressed grave concern regarding Israel's intention to move forward with the construction of more than 4,000 settlement homes in the West Bank.
In a formal statement, the Foreign Ministry in Tokyo also strongly denounced the June 20 terror attack that left four Israelis dead in the West Bank, as well as the subsequent attacks against Palestinians that day.

According to the statement, settlement expansion is illegal under international law, and Japan has repeatedly urged Israel to completely halt these activities.

According to the statement, Israel is destabilising the region by expanding its settlements, "which goes against efforts by the international community to create a political horizon towards a two-state solution."
