CHENNAI: The medical board of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), constituted on the Supreme Court's orders to investigate the death of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, will hand in its final report to the commission, In the first week of August.

The Tamil Nadu government granted the Justice Aurmughaswamy Commission an extension till August 3, and the Member Secretary of the AIIMS medical board informed it that it will submit its final report in the first week of August.

The AIIMS medical board reportedly indicated in the email that it needed time till the first week of August because the board's members will be away from the country until then.

On November 30, 2021, the Supreme Court ordered the All India Institute of Medical Sciences to set up a medical board to support the Justice Arumughaswamy commission, which is looking into the death of the previous Chief Minister.

It was given guidance after Apollo Hospitals in Chennai asked for the formation of a medical board to help the commission comprehend the medical care given to the late Chief Minister. At the Apollo Hospital, where she received treatment for a number of illnesses, Jayalalithaa passed away on December 5, 2016.

On September 22, 2016, she was admitted to the hospital and remained there for 75 days before she passed away. several allegations were made regarding her health, and even former AIADMK ministers publicly stated that they hadn't seen the former chief minister since she was admitted to the hospital.
