Lucknow: Amid reports of senior party leader Azam Khan's displeasure with Samajwadi Party (SP) national president and former CM Akhilesh Yadav, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Jayant Chaudhary on Wednesday arrived to meet his family. Jayant said he believes that the difference of opinion in any political party is proof of democracy being alive in that party.
Jayant Chaudhary, however, appeared to refrain from speaking on the sp's internal divide issue. He said he had come to Rampur to meet the main witness in the Lakhimpur incident. He has also come here to meet Azam's son Abdullah Azam and his wife Dr Tanzeen Fatima. He said that due to different thinking in a party, there can be different opinions, that is the beauty of democracy.
Jayant Chaudhary further said that "Azam Khan is a senior leader and his family belongs to three generations of the Khan family. He said that there should be a review of the defeat in the assembly elections and there are bound to be different opinions in a democracy. A party can have different thinking and this is proof of internal democracy. The next stop of democracy and trying to understand to protect constitutional values are being made, so as to perform better.''
