Latehar: Recently a chopper of the Indian Air Force mistakenly landed a team of polling officers in Chhattisgarh and left. All these officers were engaged in the first phase of assembly elections in the neighboring state of Jharkhand. Eight polling personnel flew from the district headquarters at Latehar to Helipad in Mahuadand to Chatkapur. But he found himself in Pratappur Bhainsamunda area of Surajpur district of Chhattisgarh. At the same time, the Latehar district administration has sent nine teams of 18 members to Chatkapur district of Manika assembly constituency. It is one of the 13 assembly seats where voting for the first phase is being held on 30 November. The polling personnel included nine presiding officers and nine first polling officers for the nine polling stations in the region. There are 321 polling stations in Manika assembly constituency.

According to information received from the sources, the poll workers informed Latehar Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Zeeshan Qamar on finding out about the wrong landing. Who informed their Chhattisgarh counterpart Deepak Soni. Soon a team from Chhattisgarh reached the landing site and 18 members of the polling party were provided security. After this, an Air Force helicopter was sent to fetch the polling personnel from Latehar which took them to their original destination.

They are all safe and have been brought back to Chatkapur. Rais Ahmad, a poll worker, said, 'The Indian Air Force chopper pilot asked us to land in one area saying that the engine had caused some technical defect. We obeyed him and got down. He left us before we could understand anything.
