SRINAGAR: The first group of Agniveers from the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry Regiment successfully completed their rigorous training on a Saturday, as proudly announced by the Indian Army. To commemorate this milestone, a splendid ceremony took place at the Nongrum Auditorium of the JAK LI Regimental Centre, attended by their parents and mentors who had been an integral part of their arduous 31-week-long training journey, shaping them into capable individuals.

Agnipath is an esteemed initiative that involves selecting candidates to serve as Agniveers for a period of four years. After this duration, these Agniveers will be equipped to enter society as disciplined, dynamic, and skilled professionals ready for employment across various sectors. Depending on organizational requirements, they may also have the opportunity to apply for a permanent cadre position. Furthermore, a fortunate 25 percent of these Agniveers will be chosen for enrollment in the Armed Forces as regular cadres.

In April of this year, the Ministry of Home Affairs made a significant decision to reserve 10 percent of general duty constable posts, out of the 1,29,929 sanctioned posts, in the Central Reserve Police Force specifically for ex-Agniveers.

"The Central Government, exercising the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 18 of the Central Reserve Police Force Act, 1949 (66 of 1949) and in replacement of the Central Reserve Police Force Group 'C' (General Duty/Technical/Tradesmen) Cadre Recruitment Rules, 2010, except with regard to any actions taken or omitted before such replacement, hereby establishes the following rules governing the method of recruitment to the post of Constable (General Duty) in Group 'C' post, General Duty Cadre in the Central Reserve Police Force," stated the notification.
