New Delhi, The Vasant Kunj (North) Police registered a case on the matter against All-India Students Association activist Anmol Ratan after the 28-year-old rape survivor lodged a complaint on Sunday.

The woman is a first-year PhD student and she has alleged that Anmol Ratan, a JNU student and AISA activist raped her on Saturday.

As per her complaint, the woman said Ratan had contacted her after she had posted a message on her Facebook profile in June asking whether anyone had a copy of the movie Sairat, reported.

He picked her up from her hostel on Saturday to give her the CD of the film and took her to Brahamputra Hostel where he allegedly offered her a spiked drink and then raped her.

Following the assault the accused had refused to let the victim leave, threatening her with consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone.

Ratan was expelled from the students association, and a case under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered and further investigation is in progress.
