New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi has received an invitation to address the Joint House of the US Parliament (Congress). According to the invitation, on June 22, Prime Minister Modi will address a joint meeting of the US Congress. Recently (on June 1) Prime Minister Modi has expressed his gratitude for the invitation from America.

On Tuesday (June 6), Prime Minister Modi tweeted, "I would like to thank House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, Senate Republican Leader McConnell, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jefferies for the warm invitation." Prime Minister Modi tweeted further and wrote, "I am honored to accept it (invitation) and look forward to addressing the joint meeting of the Congress once again." We are proud of our comprehensive global strategic partnership with the United States, built on a foundation of shared democratic values, strong people-to-people ties, and an unwavering commitment to global peace and prosperity.

US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy tweeted an invitation letter to Prime Minister Modi on June 2, writing, "It is my honor to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India to a joint meeting of Congress on June 22." It will be an opportunity to celebrate the enduring friendship between the United States and India and to talk about the global challenges facing the two countries. According to the news, PM Narendra Modi will be on his official state visit to America from June 21 to 24. US President Joe Biden will host Prime Minister Modi at the White House. Prime Minister Modi has visited the US several times in his nine years so far, but this will be the first time he will go to America on an official state visit. Official state visits are different in many respects.
