Rishabh Pant had performed very well so far in international cricket and has caught the eyes of the Indian selectors. He made an instant impact in the Test series against England as he became the second-youngest wicket-keeper and the first Indian wicket-keeper to score a Test century in England. Now, former Indian cricketer, Deep Dasgupta has compared with Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Das Gupta said that Pant is a work in progress just like MS Dhoni was when he came into the Indian side. Former cricketr has said that Pant needs to try and analyse what works the best for him and improve both as a wicket-keeper and a batsman. He told indiatoday.in. “Just like Dhoni, when he came into the side initially.... Even Rishabh is a work in progress. Let's not forget he's only 21-22. The best part of his career is ahead of him. Not just as a wicketkeeper, but even batting wise.” He further added “He needs to try and figure out what works for him. When you look at MSD, he looks very unorthodox but he's brilliant. Pant himself needs to figure out what he needs to improve on as a wicketkeeper and batsman. Nobody's perfect but he has to find a way to figure out what works for him. Like I said, it was really good to see him working hard in Bengaluru. He was putting in those hours. And I'm sure he will figure out what works best for him.
