New Delhi: Justice K M Joseph, the Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court, who is elevated to the Supreme Court, will take oath as per schedule on Tuesday.

 His oath-taking ceremony is being held amid allegations that the Centre had supposedly relegated the judge’s seniority. Justice Indira Banerjee who became the 8th woman judge of the Top court and Justice Vineet Saran will also take oath in the order of seniority as reported by the PM Modi –led -Centre.

Worth mention here a few senior Supreme Court judges expressed their apprehensions over the issue of Justice Joseph’s seniority being downgraded. The government on Monday clarified that it had followed the "time-tested" principle of high court seniority list, as news agency PTI reported.

On a related note The Centre had issued a notification on Friday over the issue of the elevation and oath-taking ceremony of the three judges elevated to the SC. Justice Joseph being placed last in the Government issued list, after Justices Banerjee and Saran.

The three judges will take oath today at 10:30 am in Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra’s court., Attorney General of India, KK Venugopal, met CJI Dipak Misra, hours after a few SC judges visited him to express their “anger” and “anguish” over the elevation –issue, As per reports of  Indian Express.
