NEW DELHI: Amid the current squabble in Madhya Pradesh between the BJP and the Congress over OBC quota in local body elections, state Congress president Kamal Nath met with party president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday at 10 Janpath, Sonia Gandhi's residence.
According to sources, the two leaders discussed a range of issues concerning the party, including OBC reservations, organisational elections, and so on. They also talked about the state's approaching assembly elections.
After the Chintan Shivir, this is Kamal Nath's first encounter with Sonia Gandhi.
The Congress party is putting up every effort to win the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections in 2023. For this reason, the party is attempting to court the OBC group. The party has announced that the OBC candidates will be given a ticket based on the results of the party's survey.
The Madhya Pradesh Congress chairman has directed that the survey be given top attention in the selection of candidates by district committees. Following that, the District Committee or all concerned committees will vote unanimously on each candidate's name. The list will be transmitted to the State Congress Committee for approval, and the PCC chairman will stamp the tickets with the final stamp.
