New Delhi: Mahila Congress national president and senior leader Sushmita Dev has resigned from the Congress. This has been followed by a series of reactions from party leaders. Senior party leader and lawyer by profession Kapil Sibal have questioned the youth leaving the party in this way. Congress MP Ripun Bora has urged Sushmita to reconsider her decision and withdraw her resignation.

Kapil Sibal tweeted, 'Sushmita Dev has resigned from the primary membership of the party. When the youth leave the party, we blame the 'old' for our efforts to strengthen the party. The party keeps moving forward with her eyes closed.' While Ripun Bora expressed her opinion on the matter, 'Sushmita Dev was a dedicated Congress leader, never thought she would take such a decision. We were like family. If they had anything against the party in mind, they should have talked about it. I urge him to reconsider his decision and withdraw his resignation.'

Sushmita Dev's letter to Congress working president Sonia Gandhi to resign from the party has also surfaced in which she thanked all leaders and party workers. Speculations started when Sushmita Dev changed her Twitter bio. Sushmita Dev's name is among the Congress leaders whose Twitter account was recently locked. Congress had also questioned the lock-up of these accounts. Rahul Gandhi had also attacked the Centre during this period.
