Kargil in Indian history is recorded in golden letters in the war India had reminded Pakistan its real value. May 3, 1999, was the beginning of the war, where it lasted till July 26, 1999. India had won this war and the victory of this war is celebrated every year on 26 July as Victory Day.

India lost more than 527 of its warriors in the Kargil war, while more than 1300 soldiers were injured during this time. The battle of Kargil was fought at a height of 18 thousand feet from the neighboring country of Pakistan. On 3 May 1999, Pakistan captured the high mountains through an incursion with 5,000 soldiers. As soon as the Indian government realized this, it started Operation Vijay. During this period, India fired nearly two lakh fifty thousand shells, as well as more than 300 mortars, cannons and rockets were used in the war to fire 5 thousand bombs.

The Indian Air Force played an important role in this war, MiG-27 and MiG-29 were also used by the Indian Air Force against Pakistan. Wherever Pakistan was occupied, bombs were dropped and with the help of MiG-29, the Indian Army launched one after another with R-77 missiles at several bases in Pakistan.
