Bangalore: The idols of Mother Saraswati installed in government schools in 2 different districts of Karnataka have been reported to have been vandalised. In the first case, some unidentified persons in the Chikkodi area of the Belagavi district have demolished the idol of Mother Saraswati installed in a primary level government school. At the same time, a similar action has been carried out in the Shivamogga district. Both these cases have been reported to the police.

According to media reports, the damaged statue can be seen in the pictures that are going viral in the Chikkodi district incident. Out of the 4-sided marble statue, 2 hands have been broken. The veena kept in the hand of the statue has also been broken. Fragments of the damaged statue are seen scattered around. According to media reports, the incident took place on Thursday (March 24, 2022) evening. The school is located in Chinchni village. The school administration came to know about the incident the next day on Friday (March 25). After which a complaint was lodged at Chikkodi police station. Tension prevailed in the area after the incident. The police force has been deployed at the spot to prevent any untoward incident. Police reached the spot on Friday and started their investigation.

At the same time, along with the Saraswati idol in the Shivamogga district of Karnataka, the idols of Mahatma Gandhi and Swami Vivekananda have also been vandalised. The incident also took place at a primary level government school. The school is located at Harohalli in Shivamogga. This school is also a centre for the training of poor children. The rear portion of the school has also been damaged. The local villagers are very angry with the incident and have demanded strict action against the accused. Locals have blamed the illegal liquor mafia behind the incident. According to him, some anti-social elements have committed the crime under the influence of alcohol.

Let us know that only Hindu shopkeepers were allowed to open shops in the premises of Kote Marikamba Jatre, a temple in the same Shivamogga district, a few days ago. Incidentally, these attacks on mother Saraswati's statues inside the school are taking place when some Muslim girls protested against the ban in the school on the hijab. During that time, those protesters had objected to Saraswati Puja in government schools.
