Karnataka CM Siddharamaiah Raises National Flag on State Formation Day

Bangalore, Karnataka: In a splendid celebration of the 68th Karnataka Rajyotsava, Chief Minister Siddharamaiah graced the event with his presence and unfurled the national flag at the iconic Kanteerava Stadium in Bangalore . The grand occasion was marked by a heartfelt address from the Chief Minister, who called upon the people of Karnataka to take immense pride in their Kannada language.

In a show of solidarity, President Droupadi Murmu extended warm greetings to the citizens of Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry on their respective formation days. The Rashtrapati Bhavan conveyed its best wishes for the continued progress and prosperity of the residents of these states and union territories.

November 1st was a day of historical significance for Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry, as they celebrated their Foundation Day. This day marked the establishment of these regions as distinct entities.

The year 1956 witnessed the birth of Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Kerala, as they emerged from the pages of history. Haryana followed suit in 1966, becoming an independent state, while Chhattisgarh was carved out of Madhya Pradesh in the year 2000.

Kerala, an amalgamation of Travancore, Cochin, and Malabar, came into existence on November 1, 1956. The birth of Andhra Pradesh on the same day united all Telugu-speaking regions of Hyderabad.

Karnataka's formation took place on Karnataka Rajyotsava Day, November 1, 1956, following the enactment of the State Reorganisation Act. It was a momentous event, bringing together all Kannada-speaking regions of India into a single state. Notably, the state adopted the name Karnataka on November 1, 1973, after originally being known as Mysore State.

Madhya Pradesh was created by merging several regions, including the erstwhile Central Provinces CP & Berar, Madhya Bharat, Vindhya Pradesh, and Bhopal.

Chhattisgarh's Foundation Day has been celebrated since 2000, marking its separation from Madhya Pradesh. In 1966, Haryana was carved out of Punjab, and on November 1st, Punjab Day is celebrated in remembrance of its formation under the Punjab Reorganisation Act (1966).

During the comprehensive reorganization of Indian states in 1956, the Lakshadweep islands were detached from the Malabar District and constituted as a distinct union territory for administrative purposes.

Puducherry commemorates its Liberation Day every year on November 1st, symbolizing the transition from French colonial rule to an integral part of India. This day holds immense historical significance for the people of Puducherry, marking a momentous shift in their sovereignty.
