The sources from Bengaluru says N R Santhosh, the political secretary to chief minister BS Yediyurappa, have attempted suicide at his Dollars Colony residence in Bengaluru on Friday. The secretary was found unconscious in his reading room by the family members late evening on Friday. He was rushed to the nearby MS Ramaiah hospital. Two different updates were given one from Police citing his condition critical, the hospital did not respond to queries.

The Police sources said the secretary is suspected to have consumed sleeping pills. The quantity of the sleeping pills is not known. The CM visited Santosh in the hospital later in the night. Post visit from the hospital, CM told the reporters, "I had met him in the morning. We went out for a walk. I have no idea why he did this. I hope he recovers". Santhosh wife Pallavi told, Santosh is still unconscious and the doctors informed that it would take some time for him to wake up. She said Santosh had attended a wedding on Friday morning and was jovial at the time. “He was facing a lot of political pressure. He was scared that he would lose his standing", claimed the lady.

She added that he seemed to be melancholic after the wedding. “We returned home and something seemed off. I asked him if everything was okay. He said he was fine,” Pallavi said. Santosh went out and returned home at around 7 pm. He went up to his reading room. At around 7.40 pm, Pallavi went up to his room to ask him what he would like to eat for dinner. “He didn’t look fine. He looked like he was going to lose consciousness. I knew something was wrong. So we rushed him to Ramaiah (MS Ramaiah hospital) immediately. He was depressed about the imbalance in his political career. He was affected by it a lot. He is not conscious completely,” Pallavi said. A relative of Yediyurappa, Santosh's political fortunes were going through a tough phase as questions were being raised about his influence with the CM and his family. He was appointed political secretary to the CM in May this year. Santhosh played a key role in BJP governance ensuring the fall of the JD(S)-Congress government last year.
