BANGALORE: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the Opposition Congress in Karnataka have started a war of QR code posters to trade corruption charges against each other.

The concept originated with the opposition Congress, which on Wednesday responded with QR code posters featuring Opposition leader Siddaramaiah and State Congress President D.K. Shivakumar.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai's portrait can be found on the Opposition Congress' "PayCM" poster, which when scanned directs users to the 40%sarkar.com website. Basavaraj Bommai, the chief minister, and the governing BJP have been gravely embarrassed by the posters that have appeared in many places.

The Bruhat  Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has been requested by the authorities to remove the posters from walls and enterprises in  Bangalore. "Congress politicians have put up our CM to carry out campaigns; they should make their payments to Rahul Gandhi," BJP MLC M. Ravikumar said. "In reference to the Hublet watch incident, Siddaramaiah demands a watch and accepts payment. Ramesh Kumar, a former speaker, said in the public that they have accumulated fortune for four generations and should compensate him. The CM should be criticised with respect, "Ravikumar, an MLC, said.

The "PayCM" campaign, according to Congress MLA and media coordinator Priyank Kharge, is not personal. He insisted that whatever was being said in public was being used for political campaigning.

People are asked to scan the QR Code on a poster purportedly produced by the BJP that features images of Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar in order to remove them from office since they are stealing the state and damaging the system. It also describes at the bottom that both are discussing how to destroy the state, spread misinformation, and disturb the calm. Bommai has also requested a report on the Home department's recent surge in poster production.
