Bangalore: The Kharge family's hold on the Chittapur seat in Karnataka continued in this election as well. Congress candidate Priyank Kharge has defeated BJP candidate Manikant Rathore. Chittapur seat has been in headlines since the very beginning of the Karnataka elections. The reason for this is that Priyank  Kharge , son of Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, contested from this seat. While commenting on PM Narendra Modi, he even called him 'Nalayak Beta'. Priyank Kharge from Congress, Manikant Rathod from BJP, Subhash Chandra Rathod from JDS and Jagdish Sagar from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were contesting on this seat.

According to reports, the issue of family feud also cropped up regarding the Chittapur assembly seat in Gulbarga district of Karnataka, as Priyank's father Mallikarjun Kharge had won from this seat in 2008. The maths of Chittapur seat was very interesting. In the last 3 elections till 2008, 2013 and 2018, BJP had fielded Valmiki Naik from here. Who always remained second in terms of victory. After the victory once again, the Kharge family has been in control of this seat continuously.

Let us inform that Mallikarjun Kharge won this seat in 2008 and Priyank Kharge in 2013 and 2018. Priyank entered the election fray from this seat for the third time this year. This year, changing its strategy, the BJP fielded Manikant Rathore in the election fray. Same, Manikant Rathod against whom Congress workers had given a complaint for registering an FIR. The Congress alleged that BJP candidate Manikant Rathod had threatened to kill the party's national president Mallikarjun Kharge and his family members.
