Minister of Large and Medium Scale Industries Jagdish Shettar indicated that the Karnataka government is ready to reopen the industries working in rural areas from April 20. He told PTI that he held discussions with industrialists at the district headquarters city of Dharwad in North Karnataka on Friday and will hold a meeting with the people of Bengaluru on April 20 as well.

Further in his statement, Shettar said that as per the Central Government guidelines, industries beyond the Municipal Corporation and Municipality areas have been allowed to reopen with certain norms and safeguards from Monday. In this background, industries in rural areas can resume operations. This will be helpful from the point of view of economy and will also provide employment to millions of workers.

For your information, let us tell you that when the Industries Ministers of the states had consulted the Center a few days ago, they stressed the importance of reopening the industries in rural areas with some restrictions. He said that due to the lockdown, various industries of the state are estimated to suffer losses. Shettar said that some demands of industries have been sent to the Center as those issues fall under the purview of the central government.
