There has been big news about Mahant Rameshwar Puri of Kashi Annapurna Math Temple. In fact, he breathed his last at a private hospital in Banaras last Saturday. As soon as the news of his demise came to light, there was a wave of grief among the sant samaj, the akharas of Kashi, and the people of Kashi. The mortal remains of 67-year-old Rameshwar Puri were brought to the temple for the final darshan. The last yatra will leave the temple premises today i.e.

Let me tell all of you that during Haridwar Kumbh Snan, he was infected with coronavirus and from there he came to Lucknow after undergoing treatment in New Delhi. He was then recovering and staying in the Anapurna temple. On June 11, his health deteriorated again and he had to be taken to Medanta Lucknow and admitted again. He was kept on a ventilator for nearly ten days and his condition remained critical.

He was then brought from Medanta last Friday night and admitted to a private hospital in Banaras after doctors responded. Then, at 3:30 p.m. last Saturday, he sacrificed his body by naming Mother Bhagwati. Let me tell you that after the death of the then Mahant Tribhuvan Puri in 2004, Rameshwar Puri was given the mahants of Shri Annapurna Math Temple affiliated to Mahanirvani Akhara on 17th October 2004. Under his leadership, the Kashi Annapurna Anna Kshetra Trust continued to expand into the social service sector. In fact, at the time of his becoming a Mahant, only one project of the Trust was run as an anna kshetra.
