Bhadrachalam:  Telengana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) on Sunday said that his government would allocate Rs. 1000-Crore to find a long-term solution to the flooding of the Bhadrachalam and Pinapaka Assembly districts during heavy downpours.

It has been determined that the bund on the Bhadrachalam side has to be strengthened, made wider, and raised in height. Such a bund is required on the Burgupahad side, where the flooding was most severe. The submerged lands in the Pinapaka and Bhadrachalam Assembly segments should also be taken into account, he added.

Rao stated that to assure a long-lasting remedy, the government will work with irrigation specialists, engineers from the central water commission, and experts from IIT to develop solutions by analysing and following historical data on rainfall and floods. The  initiative will achieve the goal of creating a "flood-free Bhadrachalam in the future."

KCR  also stated that new homes would be constructed for families residing in low-lying parts of Bhadrachalam, as these areas frequently experience flooding during the monsoon season. The housing colonies will be developed on higher land, he said, and Singareni Collieries Company Limited will also be included in the project.

It was also requested that Khammam collector V.P. Gautham remain in Bhadrachalam in order to monitor the actual flood situation and determine the risk of an epidemic in the wake of the floods. "Bhadrachalam town will be shielded from flooding, and long-term precautions will be made to prevent flooding of the Lord Rama temple.  Sitamma’s Parnasala will also be made a safe place from floods. I will visit Bhadrachalam once again to fulfill the scheme,” KCR said.
