Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a swipe at Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao during his address in Medak on Sunday. PM Modi remarked that KCR had to shift from his existing seat and contest the upcoming State Assembly Elections from another constituency due to the impact of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its candidate Etela Rajender. He stated that another reason for KCR's decision to contest from a different seat is the discontent among farmers and the poor.
KCR is currently an MLA from the Gajwel seat and has decided to contest the November 30 elections from both Gajwel and Kamareddy constituencies. In Kamareddy, he will face a direct contest with Congress state chief Revanth Reddy. During his address, PM Modi commented, "Telangana CM considers (the state) as his property. Why did KCR need to contest from another seat? Why did he have to go there? Congress' Rahul Gandhi also had to leave Amethi and run away to Kerala. KCR also had to run away. One of the major reasons for this is BJP candidate Etela Rajender, and the other reason is the anger of the farmers and the poor."
Continuing his criticism of the Telangana CM, PM Modi added, "KCR promised to provide schemes but he delivered only scams. Instead of working for your children, he worked for his children and his relatives. He engaged in scams worth crores of rupees and increased his wealth. The farmers of Telangana have decided to permanently send him to his farmhouse."
PM Modi emphasized that the state is moving forward with the singular resolution that, for the first time, they will elect a BJP government to power. He stated, "This time Telangana is moving forward with only one resolution: that for the first time, the BJP government will be formed here. The Lotus will bloom in Telangana."
